Hell and a Happy Halloween?

Halloween, Reformation Day, Harvest Festival, whatever you call it, is over. Time to put away the pumpkins and our concerns about the meaning of this so-called holiday for another year. In the meantime, it’s not too soon to start thinking about how we deal with it in 363 days. Russell D. Moore of Southern Seminary has written an interesting article on the use of “Hell Houses” as a Halloween evangelism effort. He’s not in favor. Are you?

California Episcopals Endorse Gay Marriage

The Episcopals are at it again. First, several years ago they appoint an openly gay man as the bishop New Hampshire. Second, at their regular worldwide convocation, they chose to ignore the issue of homosexuality by not inviting their gay bishop to attend. Now, the leaders of the Episcopal church in California have come out in favor of homosexual marriage under the guise of protecting the sanctity of marriage for straight couples. What? The High Cost of Divorce

Newsweek has just posted a blog about the high cost of divorce. Unfortunately, they’re not concerned about the high emotional, social, or spiritual costs. No, they’re worried about the financial risks of getting a divorce in a bull market. In fact, the title of the article is “How to plan financially for a divorce.” Since avoiding a divorce is out of question, we apparently need to budget for it. If you can’t believe it, read on.
